Stevens Urethane

Source: Stevens Urethane
Stevens Urethane thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) is the material of choice for critical medical products, offering a unique combination of performance properties that no other thermoplastic material can provide. Toughness, long term durability, low temperature flexibility, resistance to a broad spectrum of chemicals, ease of disposal, sterilization options, fabrication versatility are all characteristics of Stevens Urethane. Plus, it is free of plasticizers that can leach to the surface, causing brittleness and contamination.

Stevens Urethane is substantially stronger than vinyl when samples of equal thickness and durometer are compared. Urethane is extremely resistant to deterioration from skin oils and offers a softer "hand" or non-plastic feel, even at low temperatures.

In addition, Stevens Urethane offers maximum versatility when it comes to fabrication. The material can be laminated to a variety of substrates as well as vacuum formed, die-cut, slit, RF sealed and thermally bonded to itself or other materials. It can also be combined with TPU tubing to create an entire system, such as a linked bladder application.

Stevens Urethane is more environmentally friendly than vinyl. Many disposable product manufacturers are switching to urethane because of environmental problems resulting from toxic by-products associated with PVC.

Stevens Urethane is available in widths from 5-inches and up, thickness from .001-inch to .125-inch, and it a wide variety of colors, opacities and surface textures.

Typical Applications: invasive surgical products, drug delivery systems, healthcare mattresses, surgical drapes, transdermal patches, blood bags, wheelchair cushions, wound care products, orthopedic gel shoe insoles, pressure infuser cuffs and much more.
