Validic, SAP Launch Precision Medicine Collaboration

Digital health player Validic and enterprise software provider SAP have announced a partnership that will integrate health data captured by clinical devices outside the four walls of the hospital to help providers deliver personalized treatments.
At the SAP Personalized Medicine Forum held recently in Bonn, Germany, the two companies said Validic's digital health platform will serve as the patient-generated health data integration component for SAP’s Health Engagement solution, a part of the healthcare offerings portfolio built on the SAP Connected Health platform launched in May.
The SAP Connected Health platform performs real-time analysis and integration of big data, spanning electronic medical records, biological data from genome sequencing, and Internet of Things (IoT) data from consumer and clinical health devices. Validic's platform will allow SAP to extend its ecosystem through Validic's own network of up to 280 devices, wearables, and mobile health apps. Integrating these data will help providers come up with personalized treatments, as they now have the whole picture of a patient's health, from hospital to home.

"Increasingly, care will be managed, measured and influenced outside the four walls of the hospital or clinical setting. Leveraging and integrating patient-generated health data is becoming a market necessity for healthcare, wellness and life science organizations aiming to improve the health of their populations. The strategic relationship with SAP will help fuel the use of actionable data from clinical remote monitoring devices, wearables and health applications – key to providing an innovative, patient-centered connected health approach."
Schiller added that the partnership will enable Validic and SAP to build new solutions in the future that empower patients and caregivers by making patient-generated health data more actionable within the connected health framework, according to Healthcare IT News.
Through recent collaborations, Validic has strengthened its leadership position as a digital health platform providing access to patient-recorded data applications, devices, and wearables. Last month, the company inked a partnership with Omnicom Health Group to provide strategic guidance and technical solutions to help pharmaceutical firms, providers and health IT organizations improve patient communication, education and engagement leveraging remotely-collected digital health data. Earlier this year, Validic announced a deal with Philips to integrate third-party, consumer-generated health data into Philips cloud-based HealthSuite digital platform and associated applications.
