Why Production Forecast Affects Sterilization Method

Source: Phase 2 Medical Manufacturing, Inc.

In order to choose which sterilization method to use for terminally sterilized devices, medical device manufacturers typically look at what materials the device is made of and which sterilization method the design can withstand. If a manufacturer has a choice between sterilization methods, they should take into consideration the relationship between their production forecast and the cost of different sterilization methods. This white paper discusses the effect that a production forecast has on both up-front and long-term costs of EO sterilization and Gamma sterilization. Download the full paper for more on how these methods work, and basic design considerations that would influence which sterilization method to choose.
