Wright Medical Group, Inc. To Feature Product Innovations At The 2010 Meeting Of The American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society

Wright Medical Group, Inc., a global orthopaedic medical device company will attend the 2010 American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) Meeting in National Harbor, Maryland July 7-10 to share product overviews for the Company's innovations for foot and ankle surgeons. Additionally, surgical training sessions will be conducted on Wright's state-of-the-art Mobile Medical Education Unit. The Wright Medical booth (#219) at the Gaylord National Hotel will feature the following foot and ankle products.

INBONE Total Ankle System: Experience the Elegance of IM Guidance

The INBONE Total Ankle System is the only ankle replacement system on the market utilizing intramedullary guidance instrumentation and in-situ assembly of the modular ankle implants. These unique features help reduce the "learning curve" associated with traditional ankle replacement systems, thus allowing accurate and highly-stable implant placement.

VALOR Hindfoot Fusion Nail System: A Streamlined and Reliable Surgical Solution

Wright's new VALOR Hindfoot Fusion Nail system is the most comprehensive and advanced surgical product for fusion of the ankle joint. The system was designed in conjunction with world-renowned foot and ankle surgeons to facilitate ankle fusion in the treatment of skeletal deformity, late-stage arthritis, or complications resulting from diabetes (neuro-osteoarthropathy). With an array of sizes and anatomical screw positions, the VALOR Nail is designed to provide optimal fixation for each patient's unique anatomy and condition. Each fusion nail also incorporates an internal compression device which allows the surgeon to control the compression between bone surfaces, thereby optimizing the conditions for fusion to occur.

XPANSION Micrografting System: For Less Traumatic Split-Thickness Skin Grafting

The XPANSION System is a single-use disposable instrument kit for harvesting, expanding, and applying split-thickness skin micro-autografts for the treatment of chronic and acute wounds. The XPANSION System provides the effectiveness of conventional auto-grafting techniques, but in an outpatient setting. The unique ability to "micro-morselize" a very small skin graft with the proprietary XPANSION System delivers wound site coverage of up to 100 times the size of the donor site graft. This compares with only 9-10 times the size of the donor graft with conventional techniques. Thus, the benefits of "micrografting" include exponentially greater wound coverage compared to graft size delivered at a lower-cost facility setting.

BIOFOAM Foot and Ankle Wedge System: Porous Titanium that Mimics Human Bone

With the new BIOFOAM Wedge System for corrective osteotomies of the foot, Wright is bringing its clinically-proven, proprietary BIOFOAM CANCELLOUS TITANIUM technology to the foot and ankle surgeon. This innovative material is designed to mimic the strength and flexibility of human bone, while providing an ideal environment for rapid bone in-growth and sustained rigid fixation. BIOFOAM implants are sized specifically for bone corrective procedures such as "Evans lengthening" and "Cotton osteotomy" procedures popular for treating patients with advanced flatfoot deformity. The sterile BIOFOAM implants eliminate the risk of adverse immune response associated with traditional allografts or the patient morbidity associated with autograft harvest — the traditional treatment option for these procedures. Additionally with pre-configured implants and sizing trials, BIOFOAM wedges eliminate the timely process of shaping traditional grafts for proper fit, thus speeding the surgical case.

Additional featured products from Wright's portfolio of leading foot and ankle solutions include the CHARLOTTE line of screws and plates, the DARCO family of foot products, the ORTHOLOC Fracture System, GRAFTJACKET Regenerative Tissue Matrix and PRO-STIM Injectable Bone Graft Substitute.
