Designing, Developing, And Validating A Precision Extruded Tube In Just 8 Weeks

Nordson MEDICAL recently partnered with a multinational medical device company to revamp and manufacture an extruded sheath for a neurovascular microcatheter. The task at hand was challenging, as the sheath needed to have tight tolerances, robust walls, an accurate tip, and specific transparency specifications. However, Nordson MEDICAL swiftly created prototypes and made necessary modifications to align with the customer's needs. Additionally, they devised a unique extrusion process to achieve the desired transparency and established a specialized manufacturing cell dedicated to this project. Remarkably, the entire endeavor was completed within 8 weeks, resulting in the successful commercialization of the revamped sheath by the customer. Nordson MEDICAL's exceptional performance has led to the initiation of another project for the same customer, focusing on expanding the product family.
