In-House Tooling Solutions

Source: Medbio

MedBio provides end-to-end tooling solutions across every stage of product development, from rapid prototype molds to complex, high-cavitation production systems. With multiple state-of-the-art tool rooms and expert mold designers across its domestic facilities, the company supports projects ranging from quick-turn bridge tooling to SPI Class 101 high-volume production molds.

Its “Prototype Plus” approach bridges the gap between early-stage prototyping and full production, offering freestanding molds, master unit die systems, and hybrid speed-based tooling options. These solutions are designed to optimize cost, turnaround time, and scalability across the entire product lifecycle.

All tooling is engineered and built in-house, supported by advanced mold flow simulation, CAD modeling, and optional animated mold function visualization. This enables detailed analysis of complex mechanisms such as side actions, multi-shot molding, and automated ejection systems before manufacturing begins. Additive manufacturing is also integrated where beneficial, including conformal cooling channels that improve cycle times, part stability, and tool longevity.

The tooling process follows a tightly controlled workflow—rough machining, heat treatment, precision finishing, inspection, and final assembly—with tolerances as tight as 5 microns. EDM electrodes are produced internally, enabling high-precision complex geometries.

Beyond tool creation, MedBio supports full production molding, automation integration, tool transfers, repair, and preventative maintenance through an ERP-tracked system. This ensures consistent performance and minimal downtime. By combining engineering expertise, manufacturing control, and flexible tooling strategies, MedBio delivers optimized solutions for both fast market entry and long-term production efficiency.
